For the outdoor enthusiast who wants more in a GPS - bigger memory for landmarks and routes, more navigation screens, more features like landmark messaging, map projection, sunrise/sunset times, moon phase, and a real-time plotter with additional functions - the GPS 4000 delivers more than you could imagine in a 283 gram portable receiver.
Based on the same ease-of-use performance, rugged design and sturdy construction as the GPS 2000, the GPS 4000 has enhanced features for mapping, real-time plotting and navigating. User-definable navigation screens have been added for displaying your most-often used readouts, and a road screen illustrates distance travelled and orientation to destination.
An enhancement over the GPS 2000, the moving-map track plotter on the GPS 4000 updates your progress in real time, showing your course as you move, the route you set and all landmarks in your field of view. In the 4000, the adjustable scale plotter pans in any direction, giving you a view of other portions of your route and all the nearby landmarks you have saved. You can "Go To" any one of those landmarks or move the cursor and immediately create one. And for 25 of those landmarks the GPS 4000 lets you attach a two-line message so you can add additional information about those locations. Experienced map readers will appreciate the GPS 4000's map projection and triangulation features, allowing them to create new landmarks by estimating distance and direction to remote locations. A handy "I'm here" feature takes the guesswork out of plotting the exact UTM coordinate point on a map.
The GPS 4000 is amazingly versatile too. The 4000 can calculate sunrise/sunset times and moon phase for any place in the world on any date, helping hikers, backpackers, skiers and fishermen to pre-plan their activities.
